Court dismisses whistleblower suit against for-profit university — A California federal judge dismissed the whistleblower claims that Ashford University unlawfully paid recruiters to help the school bring in students, saying they couldn’t sue for allegations already reported in the news.  Law360

Former Atlanta Watershed workers file whistleblower lawsuit — Gwendolyn Winston and Loren Yarbrough, two former employees of the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management, have filed a whistleblower lawsuit against the city, saying they were wrongly fired after reporting “myriad concerns over health violations, safety hazards, compliance issues and fraud inside the department to her superiors.”  Atlanta Journal Constitution

 Citigroup affiliates to pay $180M to settle hedge fund fraud charges — An SEC investigation found the two affiliates “defrauded investors in two hedge funds by claiming they were safe, low-risk, and suitable for traditional bond investors” but which “later crumbled and eventually collapsed during the financial crisis.”  SEC

California judge to hear fraud claims over Mayweather-Pacquiao pay-per-view fight — At least 32 consolidated lawsuits argue that Pacquiao had a shoulder injury that wasn’t revealed until after the fight, too late for the 4.4 million viewers who had already paid up to $100 each to watch it.  Fox Sports
