Glaxo whistleblower alleges fraudulent testing of Nicoderm – A former GlaxoSmithKline biostatistics manager has filed a whistleblower lawsuit accusing the drug maker of firing him for alleging dodgy study data was used to tout the effectiveness of smoking-cessation product Nicoderm.  Statnews

Former UCSD astrophysicist charged with grant fraud — A former UC San Diego researcher has been charged with fraudulently obtaining millions of dollars in federal grants for the private company he ran that studies solar eruptions and the formation of stars.   San Diego Tribune

Physician gets two years for home health care fraud – The physician received referrals from home health agencies in exchange for providing certification that patients were confined to home, even though at least 20 percent of the patients were not, making the home health care not medically necessary and thus not reimbursable.  Chicago Times

Edward Snowden appears at CES via telepresence — Mr. Snowden, whose location was not disclosed, discussed government surveillance as well as technology trends, noting that “technology is both a tool for oppression and a tool for liberation.”  WSJ

Leader of $200M credit card fraud scheme sentenced — Tahir Lodhi, who led one of the largest credit card fraud schemes ever charged by the DOJ, was sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.  NJ.com
