DOJ investigating major airlines over possible collusion — The government says it has begun an investigation into possible collusion among the airlines to limit seating, less than two years after DOJ approved the American Airlines/US Airways merger, saying the combination would benefit consumers.  NYT

Researcher who faked HIV vaccine results sent to prison — Dong Pyou Han, a former Iowa State University researcher, is sentenced to more than four and half years in prison and to repay $7.2M million in NIH grant funds for falsifying HIV vaccine research.  Washington Post

DOJ sues to block Electrolux/GE deal — The government claims the proposed $3.3B acquisition of General Electric’s appliance business by Electrolux would combine two of the leading manufacturers of ranges, cooktops and wall ovens, eliminating competition that has benefited American consumers through lower prices and more options.  DOJ

Whistleblower demands apology from Obama — A disabled veteran claims she was fired from her job with the National Council on Disability after she blew the whistle on what she saw as illegal contracts not competitively bid or properly executed.  ABC
