SEC warns against whistleblower retaliation — The agency says it plans to take harsher measures, above and beyond back pay and consequential damages, against companies found to have retaliated against whistleblowers.  Wall Street Journal

Bain Capital sues EY (Ernst & Young) for fraud — Bain claims it invested nearly $60M for a 40% stake in the Indian company Lilliput Kidswear based on false financial statements audited and certified by EY.  Reuters

Shands settles whistleblower suit for $3.25M — After paying $26M in August, the Florida health care system has agreed to pay an additional $3.25M to settle the second part of a whistleblower case that claimed six of Shands Florida hospitals overbilled the government.  Orlando Sentinel

Greater foreign exchange oversight? — With no central exchange, currency trading has largely escaped regulation, but Britain’s chancellor of the Exchequer said the government intends to propose rules to make it a crime to manipulate benchmark rates used in foreign exchange.   Dealbook
