New report shows Wall Street remains “untamed” — Roughly one-third of the corporate high-earners surveyed say they “have witnessed or have firsthand knowledge of wrongdoing in the workplace,” and “nearly one in five feel financial service professionals must sometimes engage in unethical or illegal activity to be successful in the current financial environment.”  NYT

United Parcel Service to pay $25M to settle whistleblower charges — “The government alleged that UPS knowingly recorded inaccurate delivery times on packages to make it appear that the packages were delivered on time.”  DOJ

Judge awards $318,520 to Philadelphia School District administrator for whistleblower retaliation claims — Francis X. Dougherty was found to have been wrongfully suspended and later fired in retaliation for talking to The Inquirer about a $7.5 million no-bid contract for security cameras.  Philly.com

Government finds “extreme billing” by California pediatric dentists — A just-released report from the Office of Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services finds hundreds of California dentists charging Medicaid for unusually large amounts of pediatric care, suggesting potential fraud and harm to children.  OIG

Administrator and biller of Illinois physician group convicted in $4.5M Medicare fraud scheme — Rick E. Brown, the President of Home Care America Inc., and Mary C. Talaga, the company’s biller, were convicted for falsely billing Medicare for services never provided including services to deceased patients and by medical professionals after they ceased working or who supposedly worked more than 24 hours per day.  DOJ

Russian whistleblower claimed to have traces of rare poison in stomach — Russian whistleblower Alexander Perepilichnyy who collapsed and died outside his home in Surrey, England after warning of death threats from the Kremlin had traces of a rare plant poison in his stomach according to an expert in plant toxicology.  Guardian
