U.S. files False Claims Act action against Western New York contracting company and its owners – “The United States filed a complaint against a Western New York contracting company, and its owners and an employee, alleging that they submitted false claims for federal contracts intended for service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses”; in fact, it is alleged, the company and owners controlled a sham business, and did not meet the requirements of the service-disabled, veteran-owned program. The federal government accuses Monaco Enterprises of defrauding the U.S. military in federal court – Spokane Valley company allegedly inflated prices for fire and security systems sold to military bases across the world. “To hide those inflated costs, the company prepared three sets of invoices – one for the military base, another for government examiners and auditors and a third set for federal law enforcement investigating the alleged fraud, the complaint said.” The Spokesman Review.
Former defense contractor employee sentenced in IAP’s Kuwait-bribery case – “A former defense contractor employee was sentenced to 120 days in prison by a federal judge in Virginia Friday after pleading guilty to a conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act over conduct that dates back over a decade.” WSJ.
Arrow Trucking executive sentenced to jail in multi-million dollar fraudulent scheme – James Douglas Pielsticker is sentenced to seven and ½ years in prison for role in conspiracy, bank fraud, and tax evasion scheme involving nonpayment of federal withholding taxes for Arrow Trucking and payments to Pielsticker outside of payroll, causing almost $10 million’ in loss to the United States. DOJ.
