Dentist accused of pulling children’s’ teeth to defraud Medicaid – Dozens of lawsuits have been filed against Florida dentist Howard Schneider, accusing him of unnecessarily pulling teeth (as many as seven from one girl) to scam Medicaid out of millions of dollars.  Raw Story

$2 billion Medicaid lawsuit against Pfizer likely going forward – The judge presiding over the Justice Department’s case against Pfizer’s Wyeth unit has said he has an “inclination” to reject the company’s request to dismiss allegations that Medicaid was overcharged for the acid reflux drug Protonix.  Wall Street Journal

Kmart settles whistleblower lawsuit – The company agreed to pay $1.4 million to settle allegations that it violated the False Claims Act, luring Medicare beneficiaries to fill prescriptions at its stores by giving away drug manufacturer coupons and gasoline discounts.  Corporate Crime Reporter

Former United Commercial Bank executive hit with eight year prison term – Ebrahim Shabudin, the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Credit Officer at the now-defunct bank, had been found guilty of seven crimes involving a corporate fraud scheme intended to hide how poorly the failing bank was performing.  DOJ

Pennsylvania Supreme Court breathes new life into Turnpike whistleblower case – The ruling overturns a lower court’s rejection of allegations brought by Ralph Bailets, the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s former manager for financial reporting, that Turnpike officials were engaged in a pay-to-play scheme.  The Patriot-News
