Tom Brady redeemed — New York court nullifies the NFL’s 4-game suspension of Patriot QB Brady, finding the arbitration award was procedurally unfair.  Whistleblower Insider

Hospice chain and owner settle whistleblower False Claims Act charges — St. Joseph Hospice Entities, which consists of 13 hospice facilities in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Alabama, and its majority owner Patrick T. Mitchell agreed to pay $5,867,518 to resolve allegations they submitted false claims for crisis care hospice services.  DOJ

DOJ pursues whistleblower case against California sleep clinic chain — The whistleblower’s complaint alleges that Bay Sleep Clinic defrauded Medicare through such actions as using non-qualified, non-credentialed and non-licensed practitioners, running non-approved locations, engaging in self-dealing, and providing kickbacks to doctors.  Whistleblower Insider

Guatemalan president jailed in corruption scandal — Otto Pérez Molina faces charges of fraud, illicit association and corruption related to a customs fraud ring that gave discounts on import tariffs to companies in exchange for kickbacks.  NPR

Investigation clears Army of retaliating against Green Beret whistleblower — “The Pentagon’s top watchdog has cleared senior Army officials of retaliating against a Green Beret officer who turned whistleblower over dysfunction he saw in U.S. hostage recovery efforts, but the case remains under scrutiny by Congress.”  Washington Post

Vermont State Colleges refine whistleblower policy — The new policy offers greater protections from retaliation and is designed to increase the number of whistleblowers who report misconduct within the four colleges and one university in the system.  Rutland Herald
