Ex-Unicredit executive blasts Ireland’s lack of whistleblower protections – Appearing before a joint committee examining the Irish banking sector, former Unicredit executive-turned-whistleblower Jonathan Sugarman testified that Ireland has “absolutely and completely destroyed the lives of every single whistleblower” who dared reveal irregularities to officials; earlier this week the Irish Central Bank issued a report criticizing numerous international banks operating in Ireland for their weak internal controls.
