NYAG Announces Joint $54 Million Settlement with CareCore to Resolve Whistleblower Allegations —  Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced today that New York, along with 20 other states, has reached an agreement in principle to join the federal government in a settlement with CareCore National LLC, now part of eviCore healthcare that was unsealed today.  The agreement settles allegations that CareCore instituted a scheme to auto-approve or “Process As Directed” hundreds of radiology service requests on a daily basis, deeming those diagnostic services as reasonable and medically necessary, even though there had been no evaluation of those cases by the appropriate medical personnel. NYAG

VA whistleblowers: Retaliation is getting worse, not better — Whistleblowers say retaliation is getting worse under President Trump, despite Trump’s assurances in April that he was taking steps to protect employees who point out problems at the troubled agency.  Several whistleblowers and sources with experience investigating the VA said that while Trump seems to want to fix the broken VA, his goals, including whistleblower protection, are largely being ignored by the VA. Washington Examiner

Despite Little Evidence Of Fraud, White House Launches Voting Commission – Despite numerous independent investigations that have concluded that voter fraud exists, but is extremely limited in scope, the White House has announced the creation of a presidential commission led by Vice President Mike Pence to investigate voter fraud. NYT
