New York to receive $800M from BofA settlement — New York will receive $800M — $300M in cash and $500M in the form of direct relief to consumers — as its share of a national $16.65B settlement with Bank of America over its role in the sale of mortgage-backed securities.  CBS

DOJ investigating role of GM’s lawyers in recall fiasco — Prosecutors are looking at whether GM’s lawyers were involved in concealing evidence from the government of a faulty ignition switch and adding to the delay of a recall being issued for a faulty product connected to at least 13 deaths.  WSJ

NY settles whistleblower tax fraud case — High-end appliance retailer Topline Appliance Center agreed to pay $1.56M to settle whistleblower charges that it failed to collect and pay sales taxes and corporate franchise taxes to New York over an almost 10-year period.  NYAG
