Chiropractor pays $62k to resolve FCA case – An Iowa chiropractor was accused of violating the False Claims Act by improperly billing  Medicaid for medically unnecessary chiropractic procedures and for the treatment of conditions for which payment is not allowed, including bed wetting, colic and ear infections. Swiss open criminal case against FIFA president — Swiss investigators opened criminal proceedings against FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, on “suspicion of criminal mismanagement and misappropriation,” accusing him of, among other things, violating his fiduciary duty to FIFA by signing an unfavorable television rights contract in 2005.  NYT

Canadian man pleads guilty over $300m penny stock fraud —A Canadian man charged in connection with a $300 million penny-stock manipulation fraud that prosecutors say drove the market value of little-known Cynk Technology Corp past $6 billion pleaded guilty on Thursday to two conspiracy charges.  Reuters

Snowden calls for global push to expand digital privacy laws —Snowden’s call for new international laws to protect data privacy was made at the launch in New York of the so-called “Snowden Treaty,” a fledgling campaign designed to apply pressure on governments around the world in the hope of generating new safeguards both for personal data and for whistleblowers and journalists vulnerable to government prosecution.  The Guardian

Fraud alleged in Barnes & Noble takeover bid — A February takeover bid for Barnes & Noble that sent the bookseller’s stock soaring was fraudulent because the firm behind the announcement lacked funding to do the deal.   USA Today
