Amtrak contractor settles FCA case for $1.5M – Construction contractor CH2M Hill settled allegation it improperly billed labor costs under a joint venture project management contract with Amtrak. CH2M allegedly billed labor costs at the maximum allowable rate, instead of adjusting for actual costs and billing employees of the lower-overhead related company CH2M Hill Constructors, Inc. Army subcontractor settles FCA case for $320K – People, Technology and Processes, LLC (PTP) settled allegations it submitted improper invoices related to its work in Afghanistan for the US Army. PTP allegedly submitted invoices for work that was never performed on a communications contract, including billing for an employee’s time while they were vacation in another country. The case was filed by a whistleblower, Aidan Tamer Topracki, who will receive $64K of the settlement. USAO Middle District of Florida

Cognizent reveals it has spent $27M on FCPA probe — NASDAQ-listed consulting giant Cognizent released a report showing spending due to a DOJ and SEC probe related to the company’s conduct in India. The company believes it has identified $6M in improper payments. The company also noted the probe is likely to result in additional expenses in 2017. Times of India
