In March 2018, President Donald Trump agreed to a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un that was announced by South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong in front of the White House. This announcement was followed by the April 27, 2018 Inter-Korean Summit at the Peace House in Panmunjom where Kim Jong-Un met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and reportedly expressed a desire for denuclearization. On May 10th, President Trump announced that the U.S.-North Korea summit would take place on June 12th in Singapore.

However, last week North Korean leadership expressed displeasure with the continuation of annual joint U.S.-South Korea military exercises, as well as National Security Advisor John Bolton’s statement that North Korea should follow the “Libya Model” in denuclearizing, and stated that unilateral nuclear disarmament on the part of North Korea was a “deal breaker” for high-level talks with the U.S. This led to President Trump saying yesterday that the entire June 12th meeting could be scuttled if North Korea is not serious about denuclearization.

What do you think? Will the U.S.-North Korea summit happen on June 12th?
