Carolina Gonzalez

Carolina Gonzalez is an associate in Constantine Cannon’s London office. She is a member of the firm’s Whistleblower Representation and Commercial Litigation and International Arbitration practice groups.

Carolina represents whistleblowers from the U.K., E.U. and worldwide under various U.S. whistleblower reward programs. Her practice also focuses on international dispute resolution, both arbitration and international litigation. She has experience under a variety of arbitration rules, including ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, and ICDR.

She has also acted for companies involved in multi-jurisdictional internal and government investigations regarding allegations of fraud and corruption.

Recent representations while at the firm and before joining the firm include:

  • Advised European investors in connection with potential investment treaty arbitration dispute against European State.
  • Representation of claimants in Valores Mundiales, S.L. and Consorcio Andino, S.L. v. Bolivarian Republic (ICSID Case No. ARB/13/11), securing USD 430 million award (excluding interest) and USD 5.9 million in legal fees.
  • Representation of major pharmaceutical company in a DOJ/SEC investigation concerning alleged violations of the FCPA in several jurisdictions.
  • Representation of multinational in internal investigation involving alleged FCPA violations in European country.
  • Representation of major North American mining company against global engineering and construction companies in UNCITRAL arbitration.
  • Representation of South American subsidiary of a major North American mining company in ICDR arbitration.
  • Co-representation of claimants in Occidental Petroleum Corporation and Occidental Exploration and Production Company v. Republic of Ecuador (ICSID Case No. ARB/06/11).
  • Representation of Spanish multinational in ICC arbitration against a major European energy company.
  • Representation of claimants in Highbury International AVV and Ramstein Trading Inc. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB/11/1).
  • Co-representation of claimant in Rusoro Mining Ltd. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB(AF)/12/5).

Prior to joining Constantine Cannon, Carolina was an associate in the London office of Covington & Burling, including a secondment to the New York office.

Carolina graduated as Class Valedictorian from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas and holds a Master of Laws from New York University where she was a Vanderbilt and Fulbright Scholar.
