In the FTC’s appeal of the trial court’s judgment for Meta Platforms, Ankur Kapoor and Ethan Litwin submitted an amicus brief on behalf of six professors of economics—Steve Salop at Georgetown, Allan Collard-Wexler at Duke, Florian Ederer at Boston U., Marty Gaynor at Carnegie Mellon, Nancy Rose at MIT, and Larry White at NYU—addressing the court’s errors in antitrust economics which led to its conclusion that Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram in 2012 did not maintain Facebook’s monopoly in social networking.
