Lloyd Constantine, the founding member and chairman of Constantine Cannon, and currently its Counsel, was interviewed by the ABA for its Antitrust Oral History Project, established to capture the perspectives of the preeminent practitioners of antitrust law during tyhe last 35 years. Lloyd’s interview focuses on the emergence of coordinated multistate antitrust enforcement by State Attorneys General which Lloyd led in the 1980s and early 90s, the rationale for founding Constantine & Partners (now Constantine Cannon) and some of the landmark and cutting edge cases which have been the Firm’s mainstay since its inception in 1994.

Constantine Cannon LLP secures third largest antitrust settlement in U.S. history for its client Discover Financial Services in its lawsuit against Visa and MasterCard. Led by Partners, Jeffrey I. Shinder and Matthew L. Cantor, Constantine Cannon (along with co-counsel) helped Discover secure a $2.75 billion settlement from Visa and MasterCard. The Discover settlement followed an August 20, 2008 ruling by the Court granting Discover partial summary judgment and denying most of defendants’ dispositive motions. Mr. Cantor and Mr. Shinder were also among the lead attorneys in the Constantine Cannon team that acted as lead counsel in the In Re Visa Check class action, a case that resulted in the largest antitrust settlement in U.S. history.

The article details how Constantine Cannon LLP, through motion practices, was able to limit defendants’ “fishing expedition” into non-parties entities in which the owners of the plaintiffs had an interest. Reiko Cyr of Constantine Cannon was appointed Vice-Chair of the Communications Industry Committee of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section. Ms. Cyr has been an active member of the Committee for several years and will be the second Constantine Cannon attorney to join the ABA Antitrust Section leadership.
Gordon Schnell spoke at the 2007 Advanced EC Competition Law Conference in London. The two-day conference focused on major developments in the field of EC competition law and policy. Mr. Schnell participated on a panel of U.S. and European antitrust practitioners on the subject of the pros and cons of permitting antitrust class actions.

Constantine Cannon LLP announces that, in a pro bono representation that concerned unpaid wages claims that was led by Constantine Cannon attorney, Reiko Cyr and attorneys from the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), full judgment for the plaintiff client was awarded by the Court. That client, Mrs. Sun Ja Yi, 65, worked 60 hours a week as a chef for a popular dance club without receiving overtime or spread of hours pay. Constantine Cannon and AALDEF sued on her behalf and succeeded in obtaining both payment for her unpaid wages as well as legal fees (which were provided in full to AALDEF) in the amount of $35,000.
