More medical research money in exchange for lower FDA standards? – Safety advocates are up in arms over efforts by Congress to lower FDA standards for approval of pharmaceuticals and medical devices by tying them to increases in medical research funding.  Wall Street Journal

Air Force whistleblower says Benghazi could have ended differently – An anonymous whistleblower is alleging that the Air Force had time to reach Benghazi victims in time to prevent some of their deaths, contrary to the White House’s claim.  Colorado Springs Gazette

“Bribery Taints $2 Trillion of Transactions Globally” – The International Monetary Fund believes at least $2 trillion in global transactions involve bribes, and the impact is likely even larger.  Wall Street Journal

Maryland files fraud charges against company that bought settlement proceeds from lead poisoning victims – The state’s attorney general filed a lawsuit alleging that Access Funding, a Chevy Chase company, defrauded lead poisoning victims and deceived court officials.  Washington Post

Aegerion Pharmaceuticals reaches preliminary $40 million settlement – The settlement agreements with the DOJ and SEC would resolve allegations that the company violated the False Claims Act and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act regarding sales practices of its drug Juxtapid; the company would also plead guilty to two misdemeanors for misbranding.  Seeking Alpha
