DOJ goes after Volkswagon with anti-bank fraud law – The government is using the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (Firrea), recently used to go after banks in the wake of the Great Recession, to widen its probe of the car manufacturer’s emissions scandal.  Wall Street Journal

21st Century Oncology Inc. settles False Claims Act lawsuit for $34.7 million – The country’s biggest physician-led integrated cancer care provider agreed to the payment to resolve whistleblower allegations that it performed and billed for unnecessary medical procedures.  DOJ

Judge dismisses part of Lance Armstrong’s False Claims Act case – The ruling rejected allegations that the former cyclist was obligated to repay sponsorship money received from the Postal Service, but it allows for the case, with potential damages and penalties of $100 million, to proceed.  USA Today

Attorney General Loretta Lynch speaks out against unsafe dietary supplements – In her remarks on efforts to protect consumers, the Attorney General noted that the DOJ is bringing over 100 civil and criminal cases across the country.  DOJ
