DOJ CATCH OF THE WEEK

This month’s highlighted DOJ enforcement proceedings were against: New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (here); and Institute For Cardiovascular Excellence (here).

DOJ Fraud Settlements

The DOJ settled False Claims Act and other fraud allegations with Sanden Corp., Nation’s Best Home Health Care, Composite Engineering, Lafferty Enterprises, Anadarko Petroleum, Kerr McGee, Health One Pharmaceuticals, and Daiichi Sankyo, among others, for a total recovery of more than $5 billion.  Many of these matters were initiated by whistleblowers under the qui tam provisions of the False Claims Act.  Click here.
