Today's Whistleblower FAQ - Whistleblower Rewards
Frequently Asked Question: Am I entitled to a whistleblower award if I report fraud or misconduct to the government?
Answer: You might be, depending on the nature of the fraud or misconduct you are reporting, the government agency you report it to, and the manner and timing of your reporting.
More Information: Under the whistleblower provisions of the federal False Claims Act, various State False Claims Acts, the Dodd-Frank Act, the IRS Whistleblower Law, and several other whistleblower programs, qualifying whistleblowers who bring original information to the government that directly leads to the government’s recovery of damages and/or penalties are entitled by statute to anywhere from 10 to 50 percent of the government’s recovery. But depending on the whistleblower rewards program, there are certain restrictions and requirements that apply that may limit or preclude altogether the recovery of a reward. That is why it is important to speak to a whistleblower lawyer as soon as possible if you think you have information on fraud or misconduct that might qualify under one of the various rewards programs.
