Creationism Whistleblower: “Academic freedom” is sneak attack on evolution — “Led by the Seattle-based Discovery Institute, creationists now promote ‘academic freedom’ laws that allow teachers to supplement biology textbooks with materials that attack evolution.  . . .  Despite the scientific-sounding name, a former Discovery Institute employee says it’s anything but.”  Daily Beast

The Swiss have sent a chilling message to banking whistleblowers — “In what seems to be a strong and unambiguous signal to protect banking secrecy and perhaps send a chilling note to future whistle-blowers, the Federal Criminal Court in Switzerland last month convicted former HSBC employee Hervé Falciani in absentia of industrial espionage and sentenced him to five years in prison.”  The Wire

Scottish National Health Service whistleblower hotline declared “useless” by high-profile whistleblower — Rab Wilson, a nurse who uncovered a catalogue of failings at the NHS, said the confidential phone line set up to allow NHS workers to report concerns about patient safety and bullying had “failed utterly” and “proved toothless in holding health boards to account.”  Herald Scotland
