Adventist To Pay More Than $2 Million To Resolve False Claims Allegations – In a settlement of a case initiated by a whistleblower under the False Claims Act, Adventist agreed to pay $2.09 million to resolve allegations that patients were administered portions of single-dose vials of chemotherapy drugs that were left over from administrations to prior patients; that some platinum based drugs were administered inappropriately; that certain infusion services were upcoded; and that some patients had to be admitted for treatment as a result of the foregoing acts and omissions.  US Attorney MD FL

Two Executives Charged for Conspiring to Eliminate Competition to Supply Water Treatment Chemicals – The alleged conspiracy sought to eliminate competition for contracts to supply liquid aluminum sulfate, which is a coagulant used by municipalities to treat drinking and waste water and by pulp and paper companies in their manufacturing processes.  DOJ

Probe into misuse of state computer reveals Medicaid patient data breach – A whistleblower complaint that an employee at the Washington state Department of Social and Health Services was reviewing and downloading pornography at work lead to an investigation by the state Auditor’s Office which confirmed the allegations and also revealed that the employee wrongfully had access to data on 91,000 Medicaid patients.  Tacoma News Tribune
