Whistleblower exposes $18.4M fraud at U.S. Postal Service — A report requested by Senator Grassley was recently released that confirms a whistleblower tip regarding the mishandling of contract payments at the U.S.P.S.  NBC – Omaha

VA IG subpoenas whistleblower group — The Project on Government Oversight (POGO) will fight the government’s demand for information the group has received from whistleblowers regarding the scandal at VA facilities.  Washington Free Beacon

IRS whistleblower calling for Congress to investigate troubled agency — According to William Henck, a 26-year veteran of the IRS who works in the chief counsel’s office, “the decision-making process for a particular case or type of case is corrupted or compromised by high-level executives basically on a whim or fiat or in an arbitrary fashion.”  Forbes

Medicare paying top dollars for “unusual” medical procedures — According to the Wall Street Journal, more than 2,300 providers earned $500,000 or more from Medicare in 2012 from a single procedure or service, often operating outside their areas of expertise or deviating from standard medical practice.  WSJ

SEC probes dark pools — The SEC is investigating a number of big “dark pools” (likely targets are those run by Credit Suisse, Barclays and UBS AG)  as stock-market regulators ramp up pressure on the private trading venues.  WSJ
