Nebraska lawmakers pass whistleblower protections for nurses — The bill by Sen. Brett Lindstrom of Omaha would ban retaliation against nurses who file complaints with the state and would guarantee confidentiality for the nurse even if the allegations later become a matter of public record.  1011

Navistar International misled investors about advanced technology engine — The SEC alleges that Navistar failed to fully disclose the company’s difficulties obtaining EPA certification of a truck engine able to meet stricter Clean Air Act standards that took effect in 2010 and that the company repeatedly misled investors about its development of the engine.  SEC

Billionaire Safra accused of corruption — Billionaire Joseph Safra and five other people were accused of corruption by Brazilian federal prosecutors in a case related to a tax evasion investigation in which prosecutors allege a Grupo Safra executive, Joao Inacio Puga, negotiated a bribe in exchange for lifting a tax debt owed by a subsidiary.
