Feds’ LA raids target investor green card fraud – A multiyear investigation involving Mandarin-speaking agents culminated Wednesday in the execution of search warrants at several greater Los Angeles sites authorities allege were connected to a $50M E-B5 visa fraud scheme; the fraud operation enabled Chinese citizens, including fugitives, to secure US permanent residency. Michigan “pill-mill” operators convicted – Michigan doctors Anthony Conrardy and William McCutchen III face 20 years in prison following conviction for issuing hundreds of medically unnecessary prescriptions—many for narcotics such as Oxycodone and Dilaudid—during their employment at the Meghnot Comprehensive Center for Hope, which generated roughly $4.5M from illegal prescriptions between September 2011 and March 2015. Former National Guard recruiter settles FCA suit for $15k – Former National Guard recruiter Ana Maria Mendiola settled allegations she requested payment for recruiting four soldiers she did not actually recruit; according to authorities, Ms. Mendiola illegally obtained the four individuals’ personal information and claimed them as recruits without their knowledge or consent.
