SEC Awards nearly $1 million to Whistleblower  — The whistleblower, who is anonymous, provided information to the SEC that allowed the government to bring multiple enforcement actions against wrongdoers.  SEC

Unlicensed Michigan Physician Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud for Role in $6.3 Million Detroit-Based Medicare Fraud Scheme – Renald Dasine admitted that while employed at B&M Visiting Doctors PLC, he submitted fraudulent claims to Medicare under the name of a licensed medical doctor, although he had seen the patients himself.  Dasine further admitted to falsifying related patient records, including medical documents, prescriptions for controlled substances and billing documents.   DOJ

18 Facing Charges Related to Health Care Fraud and Prescription Pill Distribution Ring – The related indictments allege that the defendants obtained prescription painkillers paid for by government-funded health care programs and then sold their pills for cash. USAO WDPA

Guilty Plea in FCPA Case – The son of a former prime minister of Gabon pleaded guilty to conspiring to make corrupt payments to government officials in Chad, Niger, and Guinea, in the course of his work as a “fixer” for a mining company that was owned by a joint venture between Och-Ziff Capital Management Group LLC and a Turks & Caicos company.  DOJ
