Ex-drug executive Shkreli to face U.S. fraud trial in June 2017 — Martin Shkreli, the former pharmaceutical executive who last year became a lightning rod for criticism of soaring prescription drug prices, is now scheduled to go on trial in June 2017 in the U.S. government’s securities fraud case against him.  Reuters

Columbia University to pay $9.5 million to settle fraud charges — The DOJ said Columbia University has agreed to pay $9.5 million to resolve allegations that it improperly charged the National Institutes of Health for facilities and administrative costs on more than 400 federal grants.  Reuters

Former Port Authority chairman pleads guilty in corruption probe — David Samson, a former appointee and close political ally of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, has been under investigation for nearly three years by federal prosecutors for allegedly trading official actions for the resumption of a direct flight to an airport near his country home in South Carolina.  WSJ

Ex-Kit Digital CEO extradited from Colombia to face U.S. fraud case — The former CEO of Kit Digital, Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, was extradited from Colombia to face charges that he engaged in a wide-ranging market manipulation and accounting fraud scheme at the now-bankrupt technology company.  Reuters

Barcelona criticized for supporting Messi after fraud verdict — Barcelona has drawn widespread criticism for its campaign to support Lionel Messi with the slogan “We Are All Leo Messi,” which is a play on the public awareness campaign by Spain’s tax authorities “We Are All The Tax Office.”  USA Today
