Maine doctor settles FCA suit for $124k — Dr. Douglas Jorgensen settled allegations he submitted false claims to Medicare. Dr. Jorgenson allegedly billed for evaluation and management procedures that should have been bundled with osteopathic treatments, and thus are not separately reimbursable. USAO Maine
Two Missouri doctors plead guilty to healthcare fraud — Drs. Ken Rall and Michael Richards pled guilty to a $190K fraud scheme in which doctors lied about reviewing radiological imaging before submitting the procedure codes for reimbursement to Medicare. These guilty pleas follow a 2016 settlement under which the doctors’ employer, the University of Missouri, paid $2.2M to settle similar charges. Columbia Missourian
Florida telecom executive pleads guilty to FCPA charge — Amadeus Richers, an executive of a Miami-based telecom company, pled guilty to conspiring to pay $3M in bribes to the Haitian government to secure contracts with Telecommunication D’Haiti, a state-owned entity. Richers is the ninth person to plead guilty or be convicted in this case. DOJ
