Court removes South Korean president from office over corruption scandal — South Korea’s Constitutional Court unanimously ruled to remove impeached President Park Geun-hye from office on Friday over a corruption scandal, opening her to possible criminal proceedings.  The decision sparked protests, some of them violent, which resulted in two deaths and about 30 injuries. The move puts South Korea into a state of political uncertainty in a region where North Korea is testing missiles and China is warning to act on the U.S. placement of an anti-missile system in South Korea. PBS

Chicago School to Pay Balance on $4.3M to Whistleblower — Chicago State University appears set to give the remainder of a $4.3 million payment to a former administrator who filed a whistleblower lawsuit against school in 2010.  The whistleblower alleged he was wrongly dismissed, including after he shed light on questionable contracts.  Jurors awarded him back pay and $2 million in punitive damages in 2014, as well as attorney fees. B ut the amount increased because of interest and other fees stemming from appeals by Chicago State University. US News

Former CEO of Coupon Clearinghouse Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison — Thomas C. Balsiger of El Paso, Texas, was sentenced in Federal Court in Milwaukee to 10 years in prison to be followed by 3 years’ supervised release.  Mr. Balsiger also was ordered to pay over $65 million in restitution.  In December 2016, following a month-long trial, Mr. Balsiger, the former CEO of the nation’s largest coupon clearinghouse (International Outsourcing Services), was found guilty of 10 counts of wire fraud, one count of wire fraud conspiracy, and one count of conspiring to obstruct justice.  EDWI
