Former Equifax executive charged with insider trading –The SEC announced insider trading charges today against Jun Ying, former chief information officer of a U.S. business unit of Equifax, who dumped his stock before the company announced it had suffered a massive data breach. SEC
Los Angeles dentist charged in health care fraud scheme – A Los Angeles-based dentist was charged in an indictment for allegedly billing various insurance companies, including government-funded Denti-Cal, for procedures that were never provided. The dentist allegedly billed the patients’ insurance companies without patient permission. DOJ
Foreign affiliates of KPMG, Deloitte, BDO charged in improper audits –The SEC charged foreign affiliates of KPMG, Deloitte & Touche, and BDO for improperly auditing the majority of assets and revenues of a publicly traded company without registering with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, in violation of the securities laws. The firms agreed to pay penalties and disgorgement to settle the charges. SEC
