Montana legislature passes new whistleblower protection bill—The state legislature has approved a bill to protect whistleblowers from retaliation in state government positions. A similar bill was previously was vetoed by Governor Steve Bullock, who said that the language in the previous bill was too broad, and would result in expensive and frivolous litigation. The new bill passed the State Senate with a vote of 50-0. Great Falls Tribune

Chicago chiropractor indicted for $10m in healthcare fraud—Henry Posada allegedly submitted fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid for physical therapy and chiropractic services which were never provided. According to the indictment, Posada was out of the state on some dates he claimed to have provided services, while other times he used his patients’ names without their knowledge to create wholly fictitious claims. Chinese police officer jailed on bribery charges—The police boss of a district within Jinzhou City, in Northeastern China, has been convicted of receiving about $1m in bribes in exchange for construction contracts. The officer used to bribes to buy his family several homes in Australia. He has been sentenced to 17 years in prison. Reuters
