France fines Google over “right to be forgotten” — France’s data-protection regulator has slapped a fine on Alphabet Inc.’s Google for not implementing Europe’s “right to be forgotten” globally, rejecting a compromise offered by the search firm and setting up a court battle over the scope of the divisive rule.  WSJ

Last of five defendants pleads guilty in home health fraud —  Muhammad Tariq, an owner of home health care and hospice companies in the Detroit area, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud for paying kickbacks, bribes and other inducements to physicians and billing Medicare for home care and hospice services that were often medically unnecessary and not provided.  DOJ

Jury rules Lee County must pay $1.2M in whistleblower case — After a nine-day trial, a federal jury decided that Lee County must pay $1.265 million and the legal fees to three fired whistleblowers, all former county employees, who worked in the Lee Economic Development Office until the county fired them within months of the public release of a biting audit of the county department.   Naples News

Edward Snowden to participate in privacy panel — Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden will take part in a University of Arizona’s panel discussion surrounding privacy today, along with journalist Glenn Greenwald and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Noam Chomsky.  KTAR    

Appeals panel upholds fraud conviction of Bixby Energy CEO Bob Walker — A panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Walker’s claim that he was a “naïve businessman” who was betrayed by the convicted criminals and others he hired to develop coal-to-gas technology for Bixby Energy Systems.  Star Tribune
