Fake SEC Emails Target Execs for Inside Information – “Cyber scammers are using a new trick to get confidential corporate information: They are sending spoofed emails, purporting to be from the Security and Exchange Commission, and aiming them at lawyers, compliance managers, and other company officials who file documents with the SEC.”  Fortune

79-Year-Old Doctor Convicted for Role in $200m Fraud Scheme – “A federal jury has convicted a 79-year-old New Jersey doctor of accepting kickbacks as part of a long-running, $200 million bribes-for-test referrals scheme run by a New Jersey blood testing lab.”  U.S. News & World Report

UBS Seeking to Pay Less than $317 Million to Resolve French Tax Case – “UBS Group AG is pushing to settle a French tax fraud investigation for less than the 300 million euros ($317 million) it paid to resolve a similar issue in Germany, people familiar with the matter said. That’s significantly below the 1.1 billion-euro bond the bank posted to cover potential penalties.”  Bloomberg
