Utah Financial Advisor Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion, Securities Fraud, and Wire Fraud – The defendant marketed and sold a fraudulent tax scheme, called “IRA Exit Strategy,” that promised a way for investors to avoid paying taxes on IRA withdrawals. To effectuate his scheme, the defendant caused his clients to file income tax returns with approximately $3.8 million in false business losses. DOJ

Whistleblower Exposes Medical Delays In Australia’s Immigration Detention Regime  “Asylum seekers with life-threatening medical conditions held in Australia’s offshore detention regime are facing treatment delays so severe that a whistleblower fears it may cost them their lives, in a growing crisis in the nation’s controversial detention system. He alleges that patients with breast lumps, kidney stones and neurological damage were delayed diagnostic treatments; and that severely diabetic asylum seekers held within the detention regime are at risk of going blind.” BuzzFeed
