Georgia Hospital settles FCA suit for $12.8M –Meadows Regional Medical Center has resolved allegations that it had improper compensation arrangements in violation of the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, by paying providers in exchange for hospital referrals. Long Island defense contractor settles FCA suit for $4.25M –Telephonics Corporation has settled allegations that it overbilled the Army and Navy for radar and explosive-detection systems. The company allegedly did not provide accurate cost data in connection with its contracts, inflated costs, and used different labor rates than those set forth in the contract. Former Hong Kong government official charged with FCPA violations – Patrick Ho Chi-ping, Hong Kong’s former Home Secretary, has been arrested and charged with participating in a scheme to bribe officials in Chad and Uganda on behalf of CEFC, a large, Chinese energy conglomerate. The bribes were allegedly used to increase the amount of Chinese investment permitted in those countries. Financial Times
