Missouri podiatry clinic settles FCA suit for $125k — Foot Healers has settled allegations that it billed federal healthcare programs for toenail debridement while actually performing routine toe nail trimmings. Debridement is a Medicare-covered medical procedure that involves removal of a diseased nail bed, while trimmings are not covered by Medicare. USAO Eastern District of Missouri
US intervenes in FCA suit over defective concrete in the DC metro — The allegations focus on defective concrete panels at five new metro stops. According to the whistleblower, who worked for a subcontractor that produced the allegedly defective concrete panels, the concrete had too much water mixed into it, which will cause it to break down much quicker than expected. Iowa clinic settles FCA suit for $40k — Crescent Community Health Center has settled allegations that its employees lacked credentials to distribute controlled substances that Medicare and Medicaid paid for. The clinic also paid $7.5k to settle allegations that those employees distributed non-controlled substances. USAO Northern District of Iowa
