Nevada surgery group pays $1.5M to settle FCA suit – Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons of Nevada, Inc. (CTS) has resolved allegations that it billed Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA for surgeries that were never performed and for more expensive surgeries than the ones actually performed. USAO Nevada
New Jersey construction company pays $1.5M to settle FCA suit – Ranco Construction, a company that executed many public construction contracts, has settled allegations that it paid workers a lower hourly wage than required by state and federal law while reporting to authorities that they were paying the lawful minimum wage. Ranco allegedly falsified payroll records to cover up evidence of the fraud. The scheme was brought to light by a whistleblower, a former electrician at Ranco, who will receive a reward of over $150k. USAO New Jersey
Iowa DME provider pays over $189K to settle healthcare fraud charges – Mercy Respiratory Care and Med Supply has settled allegations that it overbilled Iowa’s Medicaid program.
