SEC announces $2.5M whistleblower award — The award will go to “an employee of a domestic government agency whose whistleblower tip helped launch an SEC investigation and whose continued assistance enabled the SEC to address a company’s misconduct.” SEC
Pharmacist pleads guilty in $192M compounded medication fraud scheme — As part of the plea, the pharmacist admitted he conspired to select compounded medication formulas based on profitability instead of effectiveness, and conspired to circumvent fraud prevention measures. DOJ says the scheme “defrauded TRICARE and private insurance companies out of at least $192 million in payments for medically unnecessary compounded medications.” DOJ
Senate votes down broad Obamacare repeal — “The Senate voted narrowly on Tuesday to begin debate on a bill to repeal major provisions of the Affordable Care Act, but hours later, Republican leaders suffered a setback when their most comprehensive plan to replace President Barack Obama’s health law fell far short of the votes it needed.” NYT
